Flat Roof Replacement in Hook, Chessington
At Claygate Roofing and Guttering, we recently completed a flat roof replacement in Hook, Chessington, replacing a worn felt roof and ageing rooflights with a fully watertight new system.
Project Overview:
- Location: Hook, Chessington
- Service Provided: Flat Roof Replacement
Project Details:
The existing flat roof had reached the end of its life, with a worn, weathered surface and two ageing dome rooflights that were no longer performing as they should. After inspecting the roof, we recommended a full strip and re-cover, including a new roof deck and replacement rooflights, to bring the roof back up to a fully watertight standard.
Our Approach:
- Initial Consultation: We inspected the existing flat roof and rooflights to assess their condition and agree the right scope of work with the homeowner.
- Material Selection: We selected a high-performance felt roofing system and new rooflights suited to the size of the roof and the style of the property.
- Execution: Our team stripped the roof back to the timber structure, replaced the roof deck with new OSB boards, reinstated the insulation, and installed the new felt covering along with the new rooflights, finishing all upstands and flashings around the surrounding walls and chimneys.
- Final Inspection: Once complete, we carried out a full inspection to check the roof was watertight and finished neatly around every detail, including the rooflights and pipework.
Project Outcome:
The property now has a clean, fully watertight flat roof with two new rooflights, giving the homeowner peace of mind and improved natural light into the room below. The job was completed with the attention to detail that matters most on a flat roof: firm decking, properly sealed upstands, and neatly finished rooflight kerbs.
